About Me (human/individual)/interests, work..:
Five years ago I began an annual conceptual performance piece: 'dance anywhere' where I asked people all over the world to stop at a specified time and dance. They are asked to photograph or video their performance and send it in to be posted on the dance anywhere website, on youtube and in other artwork.

I am a dancer and artist. I am currently an Artist in Residence at KALA Art Institute. I have worked as a professional artist for many years in ceramic and metal. I have shown my work nationally. Currently I work as a printmaker, combining traditional techniques with digital media. I also perform as a modern dancer.

Areas of interest on performance and new media
The concept for dance anywhere derives from the idea that art and dance do not need to be separated from our daily lives. It validates 'art practice' as art. That the formality of a stage or gallery is not required .

'dance anywhere' is about the transformation of familiar and ordinary locations. It slips dance / art into the experience of the audience, who are present without expectations of a performance. It brings both the performer’s and the audience’s awareness to the space they are in: the street, the office, the library, the grocery store or the park. dance anywhere brings awareness to the change that dance creates as it converges unexpectedly with everyday life. dance anywhere is about shifting assumptions and heightened awareness, and generating dance anywhere and everywhere simultaneously.

Th photographic and video images that emerge from the performance become the basis of new visual art continuing the cycle of creativity. My art work distills parts of these images into prints & video.
