Norberg Festival 2009

Oh dear, I'm so late. It's already been a month since the festival, which was a very good one on the whole. I wasn't very happy about the rain but I could cope. When it came to CCTV music, it was all quite messy. There was a misunderstanding already at the booking, I think, because we thought that the installation was supposed to be running throughout the entire festival. We arrived already on Wednesday (festival starts on Thursday) to hang our stuff, and we did. When it was all done, it turned… Continue

Of course I don't know anything about technique

Tomorrow is the day of the Volt festival in Uppsala. Christian and I will set up a CCTV music installation there, and I went there today to hang the camera, and speak to the caretaker/technician. He was very easy to work with. After a while, when we'd been climbing, hanging, arranging, and discussing, another technician showed up. He was not very easy to work with. I know how the patriarchy works but it's quite rare to get such an obvious example. The second technician (male of course) started a… Continue

New Media Meeting 2009

So, my third year at New Media Meeting (NMM) in Norrköping, Sweden. I have to say I'm a bit disappointed. They moved it from September to May this year, and it doesn't seem to have turned out as well as they were hoping. The sun's been shining bright, and people just want to be outside eating ice-cream all day and night. Even worse is that there are hardly any artists here this year. Last year and the year before that, the whole foyer was filled with funny little installations and interactive ar… Continue

Your work is interesting and sounds like fun. (By the way, there are some folks doing similar work here at Keio University in Tokyo. Have you seen the movie "Echelon Conspiracy"? It also comments deeply on the increase of surveillance in our society. Thanks for the comment!

Hi Emelie,
Second Life is a global virtual community where people from all over the world can build and create together. I create animations using software, then import them, create the choreography, and then rehearse and perform as one would normally. However, my dancers are from London, Scotland, Portuga;, Washington DC, Japan, Hawai`i, New York City, Colorado, Los Angeles -- as is the audience watching!

Jo det gick bra. Jag var med bada dagarna. Valdigt avslappnad stamning.

Naken heter festivalen, kolla in www.offstockholm.se

If Jerusalem is to remain the symbol of peace and tole-rance it cannot be a ghetto for anyone or owned by any particular group. In the same year that Israel celebrates 40 years of the so-called “unity” of Jerusalem, the city has been divided by force, discrimination and injustice. In the “holy city” of 2007, it seems that the only god is “security” and real estate. Israeli policy is drawing a twisting path of a wall that more than anything ensures more conflict, suffering and despair. The future of Israel cannot be built by blocking the potential of the other. Any negotiation taking place while facts and borders are aggressively being determined according to one side’s interests, is just an illusion. Without real freedom and respect of the other’s right to live in dignity, there is no basis for political negotiation. October 2007
  • Resisting the Capitalist Production of Space.
“Ten Days for Oppositional Architecture” takes up the task of exploring possibilities and conditions of a socially committed architectural practice. Therefore the narrow boundaries of the profession have to be left behind. We hence invite activists, geographers, architects, planners, and economists representing different critical approaches to discuss and develop concepts and practices that not only try to oppose and challenge the capitalist mode of production of space, but also try to go beyond it – strategies of de-commodification, re-appropriation and alternative production of space.
