Hi All.

I have just returned from a symposium on e-learning. To put it in more context, it was looking at E-learning in HE in FE in South Yorkshire in the UK.

There was a lot of talk of VLEs (virtual learning environments) and how difficult it is to utilize what the institutions have prescribed (ie Blackbaord, Moodle). Ning came up as solution to creating one's own VLE outside the institution because of the ease of adding external widgets and links.

This led me to thinking what I would really want in a dance VLE. For my students I would to provide video, web links, and papers in pdf form.

Does anyone have a successful dance VLE? What tools does it have? What kind of learning is it facilitating?

Why didn't I get to this earlier? Does telematic dance teaching count?
Hi,
in my experience in Mediadanse (Paris 8 University dance department's dance-tech courses) we came up with.... nothing. I teach History and aesthetics of relationships between dance other disciplines (often but not only through technology). And for this course there is just a hidden directory on a site with textes and we have library of DVDs.....
There is also a course of computer asisted body movement analysis and choreography (through Lifeforms) and there is no way to do it on the web.
There is also a course about theory and practice of interactive devices for the stage (I use Isadora to teach) so there is nothing possible for me to put on the web if not a series of links for to do's
And finally a course of theory and practice of videodance making.... And here too I don't see what could be done if not a series of ho to's on the web... What do you do? What and how do you teach?

This is a social networking website connecting people concerned about innovation and experimentation on art, dance, embodiment, cognition, science, networks, post-humanism, media and the unstable landscape of contemporary culture and life.

We are in a transitional phase and refocusing the network with a broader interdisciplinary framework. It will reflect a contemporary  community interacting and embedded  unstablelandscape.
