HI Kate
Just saw your post on VLEs - just completing a research project on that...looking across available platforms and social technologies - update you when I see you! I had problems replying to that forum post - so I write here instead!

Blackboard is widely used where I work - every course has a basic minimum requirement for engagement.

It works really well in creative modules, like choreography and digital dance making. The tools seem to be growing each year - we use wikis, embed videos, pdfs of readings, links to useful websites, discussion boards, for feedback, sharing of lecture notes and virtual sharings of work.

I enjoy using VLEs both for solely online delivery and blended face to face and online - now all the dance courses where I work have some online element.

look forward to talking in person!

hi kate!
no, unfortunatly, i wont be in berlin, altough, mysteriously enough, about 10 people asked me already, if i'ld be there. i ll be in belfast, to do some work at sarc and later in the spring, i ll be a few month in glasgow. so, maybe our path cross then somehow, somewhere!
all the best,

sorry for the time-lag, i'm having neural latency issues :-)

would it be offputting for me to be sat on the front row in my "Go, Sicchio!" t-shirt, then? (I've no idea about feasibility of getting to /from darkest Sheffield at this point, so no promises, but it'd be cool to come and throw popcorn at you, heckle, laugh loudly during the serious bits etc)

and yep, i'm slowly winding myself back into making things for my own neglected company after several years of only making things for/on other companies. between the ballet vocabulary (too trad for the hip crowd) and the robots (too hip for the trad crowd) i'm sure i've staked my claim to a particularly low plateau in the funding fitness landscape, but we'll see what we can make happen...

Siccie!

What news of Donny? I notice you're gigging in Sheffield - any idea what time (for those of us who'd need to catch a late train back?)
