I saw this a few weeks ago, isn't this awesome? OMG'ess who knew technology had come so far, has anyone used any of these ideas for live performance? I was told chunky move tours with more technicians than dancers.

How do you train yourself or your performers. How do you approach your embodied practices? what kind of technique do you use?
It is important to be present and conscious of today’s artistic climate and strive to create new and innovative approaches to creation and training. I believe strongly in the practices of simplifying, taking risks, and revealing and in developing artists who are pliable, responsive, , and open-minded.
How do you relate your work to the goal of this site? how would you like to participate?

Constance Cooke
Biography 2009
Constance Cooke is an acclaimed, teacher and choreographer of contemporary dance in Canada. She is the Artistic Director of The Victoria School Of Contemporary Dance and an invited guest choreographer, and teacher for some of Canada’s leading centre’s in dance including The CanAsian Dance Festival, the International Dance 4 Camera Intensive and Contemporary Dancers Her physically vigorous and artistically challenging classes nurture individual expression and self-confidence while promoting kinesthetic awareness, body /mind integration, and conscious qualitive movement choices. Her technique classes combine the principles of release work and core strength with a solid and clean technical base influenced by the techniques of Limon, and Horton. Constance also loves to incorporate improvisation and creative process into class.


Every year Constance graduates a number of her students into Canada's finest professional training programmes - Toronto Dance Theatre, York University, Ryerson Theatre School, Simon Fraser University, The National Ballet of Canada, and Contemporary Dancers Many of Constance's former students are currently dancing with professional companies throughout Canada, the United States and Europe and have gone on to established their own companies, and independent careers. 

Constance's choreography has been presented across Canada by various companies, theaters, and festivals. Her professional work is considered by many to be provoking challenging and innovative. Her body of work includes a number of full-length productions (Salome the Headhuntress , Viva Frida , and S/kin .Constance has also worked on a number of dance for camera films including three of her own, and is an eager participant and movement teacher in the International Dance for Camera intensive held each year in Victoria with Gugenheim scholar, Ellen Bromberg (University of Utah).
Constance has been the recipient of numerous awards, scholarships and grants from the Canada Council for the Arts, the British Columbia Arts Council, the Manitoba Arts Council and the Vancouver Foundation.
