Max for Live

I wanted to inform dance-tech. net members of an interesting

collaboration between Cycling '74 (Max/MSP) and Ableton

(Live) called Max for Live. It will allow for the construction of

Max objects within Live and provide Max with a more user-

friendly front end. Here are links from their respective web

pages on the subject:

http://www.ableton.com/extend

I believe it will then make it possible to make Live, which… Continue

Interfacing Motion with Miditron Wireless

I am incredibly excited by the news that Dance-Tech.net has granted me their "Interfacing Motion with the Miditron Wireless" award.

I will be exploring what it means to be an Actor-As-Technician...exploring gestural behaviors and make-ups of characters and the infusion of sensors into their actions/environment. How can we infuse these technologies into the world of the story?

The story will return to the storyteller. Actions onstage manipulate and puppet the technologies… Continue

MAX/MSP 3: Polyphony

One of the great joys in modern digital music is the amazing possibilities with polyphony. My first hardware synthesizer was a WASP: an amazing little machine with a touch keyboard that cost less than $200, in 1979, from Oxford Synthesizer Company. It was of course monophonic. But I loved it so much I bought their big machine, an OSCAR, in 1987. It was $600 and sounded like a much more expensive machine, but could only manage a limited duophony. In 2001 I traded it in for a Waldorf Q. I was… Continue

"International Screendance Houseparty" for Friday 1st May 2009

Hi All,

I want to propose an "International Screendance Houseparty" for Friday 1st May 2009. Get your friends around, stick on a pizza and watch some good video dance work.

Of course you can choose a different date that is more suitable for you but it would be great if until then we could share links of screendance films we like and consider as good. It is an opportunity for yourself to be the curator of your own private dance on screen festival, create a platform for… Continue

Projection in Performance [LONDON]

In Britain, the education for tecnicians in theatre dance is surely one of the most advanced. But, video is too new a medium to treat it in education excetnsively. Criticising this fact, the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in partnership with Complicite and the London Centre for Arts and Cultural Exchange are hosting a day of discussion, demonstration and networking to… Continue

This is a social networking website connecting people concerned about innovation and experimentation on art, dance, embodiment, cognition, science, networks, post-humanism, media and the unstable landscape of contemporary culture and life.

We are in a transitional phase and refocusing the network with a broader interdisciplinary framework. It will reflect a contemporary  community interacting and embedded  unstablelandscape.
