About Me (human/individual)/interests, work..short bio/ THis is the most important. It is the only way to know that you are not a SPAMBOT!Be generous!: EI am an American-born experimental movement improviser and performance artist. My current primary performance works utilize the PLEO, an autonomous intelligent, robotic dinosaur, as a proximal, very primitive, engineered artificial attachment system. I work with the PLEO to 'unpack' the relationship between humans and artificial intelligence, and explore how the human attachment relationship (as defined by Bowlby) has evolved. Specifically, I have been seeking to describe how the development of these technologies informs our relationships with our own emotional selves.

Primary artistic training and influences include Japanese experimental movement and theater methods, butoh, contemporary western improvisational styles, equipment-based movement, training as a visual artist, and as a social scientist and researcher. I have been presenting work in venues throughout the United States and Canada since 1994. I currently perform regularly with Liz Roncka's Real-Time Performance Project, the Sounds and Signs artist collaborative, and with musician Max Lord and choreographer Nathan Andary. I co-produce the Zeroplan Performance Series with Max Lord. My formal education includes a BFA in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design, and a Master's degree in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard University.

Galvanic Skin Response Sensors - Movement Work

I am collaborating on a project using galvanic skin response sensors in movement performance for the Boston Cyberarts Festival this Spring 2009. I and 2 other dancers I am working with will be wearing the sensors in performance (currently testing out finger versus toe attachments). These will be wired through an analog synthesizer (foregoing digital mediation this round). We will be creating moody low-tones in conjunction with other sounds played by a collaborating musician.
