Everyday, the media bombards us with information on everything from obituaries to weddings, the latest on the economic crisis to shoe sales. What do you respond to the most?
On Friday July 17, 2009, Dance Films Association (DFA) challenges you to read, hear or see the news of that day, decide what resonates with you, and then create a short *dance film* in 48 hours. Designed as DFA’s 2009 Young Choreographers Initiative, this challenge sets time and costs at a minimum to encourage everyone to collaborate and keep the production process simple. Surprise us with your unique style and imagination (any style is acceptable). Creativity and relevance rather than budget are most important to the judges.
Process
* E-mail info@dancefilms.org on July 17th your intent to compete, with the title of your
video, a brief explanation of the story/or item (and what source) inspired your dance.
* Choreograph, shoot, edit, and submit the film by July 19th at midnight.
* Upload your video on www.dancemedia.com and put “dance-on-camera” in the tag line.
Gold Award for Choreography/Direction wins $500
Bronze Award for Idea wins $250
Silver Award for Performance wins $100

WE LIVE WITHIN AN UNSTABLE LANDSCAPE
This is a social networking website connecting people concerned about innovation and experimentation on art, dance, embodiment, cognition, science, networks, post-humanism, media and the unstable landscape of contemporary culture and life.
We are in a transitional phase and refocusing the network with a broader interdisciplinary framework. It will reflect a contemporary community interacting and embedded unstablelandscape.
This network is maintained and administrated by Marlon Barrios Solano as an independent art/curatorial/social innovation project.
