Event Description

#IdentityMashup lab at LaMama's CultureHub

Hey, all -- I'm doing a mixed reality presentation at LaMaMa's CultureHub in conjunction with Seoul Institute of the Arts on Wed, May 16 at 9pm ET. For those that aren't familiar with this term: "Mixed reality" refers to a hybrid space that integrates virtual with physical. CultureHub is an incubator for creativity focused on the intersection of art and technology, and in this lab, I'm excited to be presenting a process that I'm calling an #IdentityMashup: exploring identity by fusing the virtual world with "real world" space. Participants create (dis)embodied stories based on Jung’s shadow archetype, and explore identity through a mashup of avatar roleplaying, livestreaming and embodied storytelling in a mixed reality environment. Short stories based on shadow work will be told through an avatar whose face is mapped to a live video stream of the participants’ actual faces, creating hybrid physical-online identities that are simultaneously distorted and revealing. I'll be conducting this in the true spirit of a lab, so it won't be a passive presentation - get ready to move & be part of the process! #funfunfunfunfun

Where: LaMaMa's CultureHub, 47 Great Jones St, 3rd Floor (between Bowery & Lafayette St), NYC
When: Wed, May 16 at 9pm ET
Tickets: Free

For those that aren't in NYC, this will also be livestreamed at http://www.livestream.com/culturehubny
A portion of it will be in Second Life, but I won't be 'managing' the SL portion, so the livestream will probably be the best option for remote viewing.
