THÆTA is the third performance of StratoFyzika’s Shadows Trilogy. With new collaborations in sound and interactivity (sensors building, coding), the concept still steeped in the subconscious realms and dealing with the ego: the dark and light shadow aspects of self (as in the first two parts of the trilogy) but also on the edge of the conscious, waking self; visions on the edge of sleep, whispy light shadows, multi-dimensional geometric objects, sudden sound as if from the halls of a mind in a dream state.
This liminal zone is a state referred to as Hypnogogia.

THÆTA embodies this borderland state.

All merge onto the stage, interactively; body dynamics, auditory sensations and visuals function as the culmination of parts into one constellation in live performance.
"II AIKIA II" is a 30´´ hybrid live performance and artwork.

"II AiKiA II" is an interactive projection-mapping project that adds a digital dimension to the real world/space of dancing body movements, combining light projection, choreography, sound and camera tracking.

"II aiKia II" was conceptually inspired by the process of individuation, described by Carl Gustav Jung and analytical psychology. It defines a transformation - a second puberty of adult where a splitting of personality appears. We meet our shadow; it creeps behind us, causes trouble, yet needs to be accepted. The next split is with us throughout life; we live in dualities. We confront with our inner anima and animus and occasionally enter a stage of excitation which brings forth a new archetype; the old wizard or mother earth, both with utter power. The goal is to find our true self in self-actualization; we face the history of ourselves in a continuous link to our unconscious past which repeats creating our future.

Our creative process parallels our performative exploration of Jungian individuation; with intention to bring a relevant challenge. Once the inspiration was set, we developed each our work independently; catalyzed by the shared vision, but as brilliant individuals. We came together to form temporary duets or trios of creativity; playing games of creation. Unison completed this first cycle as our performance neared; the birth of the prime "II aiKia II".
StratoFyzika is a Berlin based group of artists with a wide range of specialization. they research audio, visuals, interactive technologies and dance in an interdisciplinary way to achieve an aesthetic and sensorial experience where numbers, frequencies and bodies merge into a final equation on stage. together they form an unique constellation going across genres and borders, stretching out to find a connection between their fields.
Atavism as a meditative state on the ancestral inhabitants in matter; water, stone, earth, ether, and fire. We are constantly pouring into and out of one another like a tide washing over the sea when our feet touch the earth, we lay down and pull up roots from the rising and falling of our feet. stars fall from our eyes we shake like jugs of water. When we sip a kiss or hug we are nothing more than shape-shifters forming and deforming from the elements which are constantly circling, making, remaking, undoing, falling apart. . . we do this also with our minds because we are also water, stone, earth, ether, fire; of nature herself.
For this performance art piece we design an environment where the stage performers are not bound to static expressions of sound and visuals. We are working with behavior-based approaches in reaction with interactive software settings for sound and visuals. These approaches and technologies affect the environment; adjusting the situations of appearance of shadows, their recognition as mirror effect and projections, their acceptance in the complex of the personality, change of the position of ego towards those elements. We want to achieve an emotional and physical sensation for the audience where the sound and visuals are in interaction with the dancer embodying the space we will create. This will be done with original visual and audio content, software and hardware interaction. This dynamic interactivity engages both the stage performers and audience to a deeper level of interest and identification.
Another possible interpretation Shadows of aiKia is research and examination of the relationship in between body and its biological existence and system of elements, light and sound, both vibrations in the space existing in due to time line. What is the relationship between human consciousness, space where it’s placed and its perception of time. We reproduce a metaphorical creation of the relativity of those dimensions, according to theory of special relativity, testing the limits of speed and trying to win over the equation defining energy and mass.

The visual and audio elements will be connected with the dancer’s movements speed and rotation, using an Arduino board, 1 accelerometer and 1 gyroscope, which will be the consequences of mind and body reactions onto the audiovisual environment.

The dance and movement will focus on duality and the juxtaposition of one’s ego of light and/or dark shadow in the space defined by and in relationship to the visuals and sound.

The space and time, light and sound will become other shadows of the person in the labyrinth of its existence.

We used Max/jitter, AbletonLive, and built a prototype with Arduino, 1 accelerometer and 1 gyroscope.
both sound and visuals do react depending on the movement of the dancer
