Boyze Cekwana faz sua primeira apresentação no Brasil neste Panorama com o novo solo Influx controls: I wanna be wanna be, no qual examina sua identidade contra a cortina de fundo do apartheid e do colonialismo global. O influx control (controle de fluxo) é um sistema de leis rigídas de passagem implementado pelo governo sul-africano em 1923. Além de impedir os negros de se estabelecerem em determinadas cidades, dominou a sua realidade econômica, política, social e cultural durante anos. Eu não posso escapar da história, diz Cekwana. Esse solo é a primeira parte de uma trilogia.
O coreógrafo Boyzie Cekwana cresceu em Soweto e começou sua carreira na África do Sul. Seu trabalho foi apresentado em todo o mundo, incluíndo o Théâtre de la Ville, em Paris, o Festival ImpulsTanz, em Viena, e o Kunstenfestivaldearts, em Bruxelas. Seus temas recorrentes são a crise de identidade do período pós-apartheid e a herança cultural do seu país e da África. Este projeto participou de uma residência do coLABoratorio 09-10, uma iniciativa do Festival Panorama de Dança (Rio de Janeiro), co-organizado com Artsadmin (Londres), Festival Alkantara (Lisboa), Garajistambul (Istambul) e o Núcleo do Dirceu (Teresina) em parceria com o Centro Coreográfico da Cidade do Rio de Janeiro e subvenção da União Européia.
