Dirt - cyber-solo

Dirt (2013, 11min) is cyber-solo created and performed for live, real-time video streaming on the internet, in which the performer manipulates a camera to reveal and conceal her own body and direct the spectator’s gaze. The performer is at once submissive and antagonistic; sensual and coarse; on display, on guard, and on attack. The idea of dirt inspires the choreography literally: smeared over skin, bitter to taste, caked underfoot; and figuratively: secrets, shame, promiscuity, gossip. The piece aims to be vulnerable, intimate, and unpredictable through the negotiation of performer-audience interaction.
