Sarah A.O. Rosner: Founder of the A.O. Movement Collective, A.O. PRO(+ductions), and their umbrella company, Urgent Artist.

Born and raised outside of Washington, DC, she attended Sarah Lawrence College where she studied with teachers including Emily Devine, Sara Rudner, Keith Sabado, Tony Schultz, and Kathy Westwater. Frustrated with the economic challenges of making dances, she began to pursue dancefilm as an alternative to performance, eventually becoming interested in new media and dance technology. In 2006 at age 19, Sarah founded the A.O. Movement Collective (www.theAOMC.org), and has choreographed for the company as well as managed all artistic, business, and fundraising matters ever since, producing two evening length performances and a series of informal showings. Sarah has danced for Cavin Moore, Laurie Benoit, Ilona Bito, and Ashley Byler, performing most recently in Byler’s DTW Studio Series performance. Currently, Sarah is creating a Hypermedia System - a new structure for making, presenting, and “artifacting” movement work. As her contemporaries and mentors have called this work both “courageous…compelling” and “dangerous…the death of modern dance”, she is dedicated to continuing this investigation both in studio settings and online on her blog, the Urgent Artist (www.urgentartist.blogspot.com). This June she founded her production company, A.O. PRO(+ductions), to support her new media and film work. Sarah wholeheartedly, realistically, and unpretentiously hopes to completely revolutionize modern dance in her lifetime.

All of us at the A.O. Movement Collective love that you're supporting our work by keeping in touch with us digitally! We want to keep bringing you innovative and exciting projects, and the number one thing you can do to make that a reality is to make a contribution - right here right now! We know that our supporters are students, artists, and revolutionaries - people who don't have wads of money to throw around - but think about this: if every member of this group donated just $10 (less than… Continue

Hi Sarah,

Thanks for your message. I just read the part of your mission that addresses economic sustainability. I would LOVE to talk to you about this and the artistic work, too. I Do you have time for a cup of coffee next week?

Hi Sarah,

Nice to meet you (virtually speaking...). I am a dancer and choreographer based in NYC, and am venturing into dance film as an alternative to live performance. I notice you mentiion this objective in your statement. I would love to have a conversation about this and what comes up in approaching work this way.

WE LIVE WITHIN AN UNSTABLE LANDSCAPE

This is a social networking website connecting people concerned about innovation and experimentation on art, dance, embodiment, cognition, science, networks, post-humanism, media and the unstable landscape of contemporary culture and life.

We are in a transitional phase and refocusing the network with a broader interdisciplinary framework. It will reflect a contemporary  community interacting and embedded  unstablelandscape.

This network is maintained and administrated by Marlon Barrios Solano as an independent art/curatorial/social innovation project.
