It is the only way to know that you are not a SPAMBOT!Be generous!: Audrey Baran is the founder and artistic director of Baran Dance, a contemporary dance company based in Charlotte, NC (www.barandance.com). She graduated Magna cum Laude from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a BA in Dance in 2003 and is an MFA Dance candidate at Hollins University. Baran is recently an inaugural recipient of the Creative Renewal Fellowship from the Arts and Science Council and has received awards and nominations for her work from the Movies by Movers Festival, the Charlotte Emerging Dance Awards, and the Carolina Arts & Theatre Awards. She serves as an occasional Adjunct Lecturer in Dance at UNC Charlotte, on the teaching faculty of Charlotte Ballet Academy and Open Door Studios, and the resident choreographer at several public schools. Baran is the founder and co-director of BD2, an apprentice company focused on contemporary dance, improvisation, and composition, as well as Beyond Baran Dance, an outreach dance program welcoming immigrant and refugee students. She is also a Registered Yoga Teacher at the 500-hour level, and thrives on sharing her love of movement and mindfulness throughout the Queen City and beyond.
