Hi, folks! We've gotten some questions on how to join or watch our hangouts, so here are step-by-step instructions.

Step-by-step instructions to clarify how to join or watch the hangout

There are two ways to participate in the hangout:

1. You can watch the YouTube broadcast OR
2. You can join the hangout and participate in the live conversation with the speakers

1. To watch the YouTube broadcast:

If you would just like to watch the YouTube broadcast (without participating in the live conversation), you can go to the event page at https://plus.google.com/b/104051017110646177649/events/c1s6ogefrcrm... -- The YouTube broadcast will be embedded on that page so you can watch it there.

2. To join the hangout and participate in the live conversation

If you would like to join the hangout and participate in the live conversation, follow these steps:

a. Email metaacademylab@gmail.com to request a hangout invite.

b. Make sure you have a Google Plus account.
If you’ve never used Google Plus before, here’s how to get started:
-- If you have a gmail address, then you can just go to http://plus.google.com and log in with your gmail address. It will ask you to set up a Google+ profile.
-- If you don’t have a gmail address, you can still set up a Google+ profile with your non-Gmail address. Just go to http://plus.google.com and click “Create an account”

c. At the time of the hangout, make sure you are logged into Google+ (http://plus.google.com) so you will see the invitation to the live hangout or download the Hangouts app (for iPhone/iPad or Android smartphones and tablets).

If you're logged into Google+ (http://plus.google.com), you’ll get a notification via an instant message in Google+ and you might also receive an email with a subject line similar to “Meta-academy is inviting you to join a video call.” To join the hangout, click the "Join Hangout" button in the email or in the instant message in Google+.

If it's your first time, Google+ will auto-install a plugin. If you’d like to download the plugin and install it ahead of time, it is here: https://www.google.com/tools/dlpage/hangoutplugin

Once you’ve clicked “Join Hangout,” a new window with the live hangout will be displayed.

Alternatively, you can also join the hangout by using the Hangouts app on iPhone/iPad or Android smartphone/tablet. To download the Hangouts app, go to the following links:
For iPhone/iPad: http://itunes.apple.com/app/id643496868?mt=8
For Android smartphone/tablet: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.talk

If you are using one of the above mobile apps, make sure you have the Hangouts app open and are logged in. You’ll get a notification via the Hangouts app, then you can answer the video call/join the live hangout on your smartphone or tablet.

d. Please make sure you are wearing headphones, to cut down on the background noise.

Here’s a helpful video tutorial on how to join a Google+ Hangout on Air for the first time:

WE LIVE WITHIN AN UNSTABLE LANDSCAPE

This is a social networking website connecting people concerned about innovation and experimentation on art, dance, embodiment, cognition, science, networks, post-humanism, media and the unstable landscape of contemporary culture and life.

We are in a transitional phase and refocusing the network with a broader interdisciplinary framework. It will reflect a contemporary  community interacting and embedded  unstablelandscape.

This network is maintained and administrated by Marlon Barrios Solano as an independent art/curatorial/social innovation project.
