i'm in the market for a new camera (primarily for filming dance). what camera/s have you been filming with recently? anything you can recommend? DSLR vs camcorder?

Hi Beth,

For controlled conditions, a DSLR, e.g. Cannon D series. As I'm sure you're aware, you'll need a few add on's for Mics & mount etc (suggest add equal importance to the sound budget);

for both controlled & robust, e.g. documentary, the Sony Z series is hard to beat re value for money sound & interchangeable lenses (Z7 up I think). If buying below the Z series tape cassette level, it's efficient to buy the Memory Recorder & a few hi-capacity memory cards. The Red series is super too, if pricier.
