This dance-tech.tv interview is introduced as core material  for the Minded Motion Lab.

It was realized in June 2012 in London. This interview is part of the dance-tech interviews and views colle...

Each week, we will watch 12-15 minutes of this video and posting tags in this thread.

Week 1: Watch from beginning to to 12:19

Week 2: Watch from 12:19 to 32:14

Week 3: Watch from 32:14 to end

How does it work?

This CORE investigation centers around real time tagging method devised as an strategy for active watching.

This method  is designed to sample in real time several aspects of the experience of observing: words, images, feelings, sensations, etc.

Any relevant aspect of the experience that can be represented with a key word.

The resultant list of individual and collective keywords is visualized using the online software Wordle: http://www.wordle.net/

This activity has two phases.  Do them each week, using the appropriate section of interview.

Phase 1: Real Time Tagging:

Prepare to watch the section of the interview with your favorite text editing software open.

While you watch the section of the interview write key words sampled from your experience: direct quotes, sensations, feelings, concepts, associations. Do not worry about recording the time code for each tag.

Write as much as you can.

YOUR TAGS SHOULD ONLY BE ONE WORD LONG.

It is OK to repeat words

Share your list, copying and pasting as a response in this thread

Phase 2:  Word Cloud Visualization of the COLLECTIVE experienc

Go to the website http://www.wordle.net/ (note that the website does not work on Chrome)

-Click on CREATE

In another browser window, return to this discussion thread.  Copy all of the tag responses to this post.

-Go back to wordle and Paste them into the white box labled “Paste in a bunch of text:”

-click on “GO”.

-It will take few seconds to process  and it will show you a graphic. You may need to install a java applet if the browser asks you.

See example with the key words from the “GIVE” thread:

You will have a resulting image like so:

play with different settings and change the output:

Color

layout

Font

re-layout

and more

-When you are finished with your word cloud, please click "save to a public gallery" and fill out the form

-When you are done filling out the form, it will give you  embedding code from your image

It will look like this.

<a href="http://www.wordle.net/show/wrdl/6894229/Give_from_minded_motion"

         title="Wordle: Give from minded motion"><img

         src="http://www.wordle.net/thumb/wrdl/6894229/Give_from_minded_motion"

         alt="Wordle: Give from minded motion"

         style="padding:4px;border:1px solid #ddd"></a>

-Copy this code and post it in this thread: click HTML  before pasting: which you can find in the upper right corner of your reply/post window.

It will look like this:

Wordle: Give to Mindend Motion

You can also play with the visualization of your personal list of work  and see the differences with the collective list of words.

WE LIVE WITHIN AN UNSTABLE LANDSCAPE

This is a social networking website connecting people concerned about innovation and experimentation on art, dance, embodiment, cognition, science, networks, post-humanism, media and the unstable landscape of contemporary culture and life.

We are in a transitional phase and refocusing the network with a broader interdisciplinary framework. It will reflect a contemporary  community interacting and embedded  unstablelandscape.

This network is maintained and administrated by Marlon Barrios Solano as an independent art/curatorial/social innovation project.
