I normally divide it in two parts, the first one being a two hours class, where we focus on technique: the elements of bodyweight, release, momentum and speed are approached through exercises that propose a very close relationship to the floor, as well as an understanding of the body’s anatomy and the physical forces that create, influence and manipulate the body’s motion.. The class is structured in exercises that develop in technical difficulty: body coordination, spatial awareness, getting on and off the floor. The end of the class applies the elements previously worked on to relate the dancer's body to other bodies: partnering.
The second half, of another two hours, is invested in creating, analyzing and choreographing physical material. The meaning of movement is questioned, while the dancers look for a personal physical vocabulary, through the use of improvisation as well as through personal research, in directed exercises with concrete tasks and goals. Improvisation is used as a tool to create choreographic material, two being the main improvisational inputs: a purely physical one, and a theatrical situation (or an emotional state). The work will be individual, in couples, and as a group.
It is difficult to describe the work without sounding too abstract, which is well the opposite of what the workshop should be about. The level and content of the workshop are usually customized for the needs and possibilities of the group or company I am working with

Humans exploring collaboration, coops, hybrid art, dance, embodiment, cognition, tech-science, networks, post-humanism and culture.
WE LIVE WITHIN AN UNSTABLE LANDSCAPE
This is a social networking website connecting people concerned about innovation and experimentation on art, dance, embodiment, cognition, science, networks, post-humanism, media and the unstable landscape of contemporary culture and life.
We are in a transitional phase and refocusing the network with a broader interdisciplinary framework. It will reflect a contemporary community interacting and embedded unstablelandscape.
This network is maintained and administrated by Marlon Barrios Solano as an independent art/curatorial/social innovation project.
