Event Description

Call for Submissions
The Society of Dance History Scholars Annual Conference and Screening of Dance for Camera
Stanford University, June 20, 2009
Submission Deadline: May 15, 2009

The Society of Dance History Scholars invites dance for camera submissions for a screening that will be part of its 2009 conference, “Topographies: Sites, Bodies, and Technologies” to be held at Stanford University, June 19-22, 2009. We invite contemporary choreographers and directors who are currently
producing dance on film/video to submit their work.

The two-hour screening will take place on Saturday, June 20, 2009 in Stanford University’s Annenberg Auditorium. The screening is open to conference participants, who include dancers and dance scholars working primarily in higher education. The conference organizers hope that this event will increase
familiarity with the genre of dance for camera within the academic community. Therefore, we are interested in screening work from a mix of established and emerging artists in this interdisciplinary field and hope to gather a representative sample of films from around the world. We are also interested in good quality documentation of live dance and technology performance.

Submission Details/Guidelines
• Works should not exceed 15 minutes in length.
• Works must be submitted on DVD (NTSC or PAL).
• Submissions must be received no later than May 15, 2009 in order to receive consideration.

WE LIVE WITHIN AN UNSTABLE LANDSCAPE

This is a social networking website connecting people concerned about innovation and experimentation on art, dance, embodiment, cognition, science, networks, post-humanism, media and the unstable landscape of contemporary culture and life.

We are in a transitional phase and refocusing the network with a broader interdisciplinary framework. It will reflect a contemporary  community interacting and embedded  unstablelandscape.

This network is maintained and administrated by Marlon Barrios Solano as an independent art/curatorial/social innovation project.
