RAW Material at Dance New Amsterdam- Call for Proposals!

DNA’s popular RAW Material program makes some changes!


In an effort to create more opportunities for choreographers at all stages of development, Dance New Amsterdam’s popular RAW Material Series has separated into two distinct programs: RAW Material and RAW Directions.

RAW Material will support the work of 6 new and budding choreographers with up to five years of choreographic experience. Experience is defined by work made outside of an Undergraduate setting (Graduate work applies to the years of experience). DNA will provide marketing and production support, a small stipend, discounted or free rehearsal space (when available), and feedback on application materials leading up to 2 performances of new 10-minute works in DNA’s state of the art theater.

RAW Directions will support 5 choreographers with more than five years of experience. DNA will provide a full marketing and production support package, a larger stipend, and discounted or free rehearsal space (when available) leading up to 3 performances of new 15-minute works in DNA’s state of the art theater.

RAW Material applications will be available online starting Monday, February 9, 2009. The deadline for proposals is March 27, 2009 at 5PM in house (NOT postmarked).
