LEIMAY Ludus Lab with butoh dancer Mari Osanai
This LEIMAY Ludus Lab with guest dancer Mari Osanai is divided in three different modules: 1) Introduction to Noguchi Taizo Part One, 2) Noguchi Taizo Part Two, and 3) Movement Creation and Structure. Modules can be taken separately or together. However early registration and discounts are only open to those who plan on taking all the modules.
This LEIMAY Ludus Lab is open to dancers, body-rooted performers, physical actors of all levels, ages, and capabilities. Within the whole duration of this LEIMAY Ludus Lab participants will explore fundamental elements of Noguchi Taizo (Noguchi Gymnastics). During the third module under the guidance of Osanai, participants will work on the creation of short individual and group pieces.
Noguchi Taizo (Noguchi Gymnastics) was created in Japan by Michizo Noguchi (1914-1998) during the same period as butoh was being developed by Tatsumi Hijikata and Kazuo Ohno. The aim is to develop the uniqueness of each individual movement and to relieve any undue strain. Taizo means ‘gym’ in Japanese, but not in the conventional sense. As Osanai explains, “This technique has nothing to do with the swelling of the muscles nor resistance forces. The body learns to move in a certain way but is loose and fluid. It becomes soft and flexible as it uses its own weight to be moved.”
These modules will allow participants to experience Mari’s unique approach to dance and understanding of Noguchi Taizo, and to discover their own individual and unique approach to movement creation.

WE LIVE WITHIN AN UNSTABLE LANDSCAPE
This is a social networking website connecting people concerned about innovation and experimentation on art, dance, embodiment, cognition, science, networks, post-humanism, media and the unstable landscape of contemporary culture and life.
We are in a transitional phase and refocusing the network with a broader interdisciplinary framework. It will reflect a contemporary community interacting and embedded unstablelandscape.
This network is maintained and administrated by Marlon Barrios Solano as an independent art/curatorial/social innovation project.
