Isabel Valverde é performer, coreógrafa e investigadora, doutorada em Teoria e História da Dança, Universidade da Califórnia, Riverside (BD/FCT). Licenciada em Dança, FMH/UTL, diplomada em Nova Dança, School for New Dance Development/AHK, completou o Mestrado em Artes Interdisciplinares, Inter-Arts Center/SFSU (bolseira Fulbright/IIE).
Desenvolve criação artística desde 1986, com performance a solo e colaborações inter e transdisciplinares em vários formatos. Coreografa em transversalidade com materiais plásticos e as possibilidades de intercorporealidade da interacção entre sujeitos e media.
Realiza pós-doutoramento em dança-tecnologia (BPD/FCT) afiliada ao Instituto das Humanidades e Ciências Inteligentes/Centro de Artes e Tecnologias, associada aos Grupos VIMMI e GAIPS (INESC-ID/IST), e colabora com o Mestrado em Produção e Criação Artística em Artes Tecnológicas da ULHT. Participa e publica em revistas on-line e reuniões científicas internacionais em torno da corporealidade e da condição pós-humana.
Isabel Valverde is a transdisciplinary performer, choreographer and scholar from Portugal. Develops experimental solo and collaborative performance art/dance work since 1986. Graduated in Dance Theoryand History (UCR), Interdisciplinary Arts (SFSU) New Dance (SNDD). Her doctoral thesis, Interfacing Dance and Technology: a theoretical framework for performance in the digital domain, has been translated to Portuguese and published by FCG/FCT. Towards the familiarization of live-virtual embodied interactions and the continuum of actualization and virtualization, Valverde’s present postdoctoral research in Dance-Technology (BPD/FCT/POTCI) includes practice as theory, teaching, and collaboration in mixed-realities interactive, networked performances and environments as well as videodance.
