Isadora software is a graphical programming environment that provides interactive control over digital media, with special emphasis on real-time manipulation of digital video. It collects the movement information received by different types of sensors to manipulate digital video, music synthesizers and lights, among others. Isadora allows most parameter values to be changed in real time, allowing an infinite variety of design possibilities that react to data arising from the actions of performers, viewers, generative algorithms, or the operator himself.

Isadora offers efficient video playback for most native codecs also the high-performance HAP codec. Isadora’s modular system allows you almost unlimited ways to apply effects to any video stream and change its appearance in real time. Use a scene-based approach; Like a play, Isadora defines scenes to divide content and functionalities. Using integrated Art-Net or DMX inputs and outputs, Isadora allows synchronization of lighting control with video and audio, as well as the possibility of interactive control in real time.

Images from a single computer can be sent to multiple projectors or displays, a feature limited only by the power of the available hardware. Additionally, Isadora’s built-in tools allow you to create large-scale seamless images made up of multiple overlapping projections mixed into one. The mapping tool, IzzyMap, provides functionalities to create complex compositions, and the control of its parameters in real time allows dynamic and interactive mapping.

Isadora’s special combination of real-time video processing, its ability to send or receive video to or from other applications, and its programmable logic make it the perfect tool for creating remote performances.

Course syllabus: introduction to the use of the Isadora software. Installation. General configuration of the software and its connection with microphones and video cameras. Structure of scenes. Workspace: actors, scene, control tools. Types of real-time image processing. Image and video file processing. Image processing captured in real time. Sound processing. Interaction through sound. Interaction through movement tracking. Automation and event sequencing tools. Inclusion of shaders in GLSL. Mapping.
