“As this rethinking of The Nutcracker becomes funnier, it becomes more beautiful and impressive. Nut/Cracked is a stylistic riot. [It] is Parker's way of loving ballet, not his way of throwing rocks at it.” - Journal Sentinel

“I bring widely divergent dance forms together through their underlying rhythmic impulses in order to liberate their latent comic impulses, collapse binary notions of gender and eros, and release a sense of wonder.” – David Parker

David Parker and The Bang Group’s Nut/Cracked is the contemporary dance world’s beloved version of The Nutcracker. With an enterprising mix of tap, ballet, contemporary, disco and even toe tap, Parker conjures a comic, subversive neo-vaudeville tinged with whimsy. Danced to novelty and popular arrangements of the score as well as the traditional orchestral suite, Nut/Cracked premiered at Dance Theater Workshop in 2004 and has been touring ever since. See it while it’s home for the holidays!

WE LIVE WITHIN AN UNSTABLE LANDSCAPE

This is a social networking website connecting people concerned about innovation and experimentation on art, dance, embodiment, cognition, science, networks, post-humanism, media and the unstable landscape of contemporary culture and life.

We are in a transitional phase and refocusing the network with a broader interdisciplinary framework. It will reflect a contemporary  community interacting and embedded  unstablelandscape.

This network is maintained and administrated by Marlon Barrios Solano as an independent art/curatorial/social innovation project.
