Amanda Selwyn Dance Theatre announces a performance and installation at the home of architects Marcia Previti and Peter Gumpel in East Hampton, NY on Saturday, August 25, 2012. The evening begins at 4:30 p.m. with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and garden performance installations. A more formal performance will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will be followed by a reception. Green Afternoon takes place at 230 Old Stone Hwy, East Hampton, NY 11937. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased at http://amandaselwyndtgreenafternoon.eventbrite.com/.
The evening will feature excerpts from two works from the company’s repertoire: Detour and Five Minutes. Detour shifts perspective and perception. Turning movement inside out, Detour plays with timing and musicality, stillness and repetition, spatial design and direction. It is in these moments of detour, when the possibilities for change reveal themselves. Five Minutes takes the audience through a series of contrasting emotional and physical paradigms in five-minute intervals. The piece asks: what does it mean to wait for five minutes? To fill five minutes? How is time measured differently by our experiences?
“Amanda Selwyn is a master of illustrating the symbiosis of sounds and movement, the romance of motion and emotion – she had me laughing, crying, cringing and gasping ...” – Inside New York
Dancers: Catherine Coury, Heather Fleischman, Jenny Gillan, Joori Jung, Justin Lynch, Louie Marin, Mackenzie Tyler, Robert Vail

Amanda Selwyn Dance Theatre engages audiences in original and dynamic dance theatre that raises questions, challenges social norms and values, and magnifies humanity through dance. Productions pivot around core themes and through interplay between athletic and pedestrian motion, activate emotional expression, character, and narrative in a rich and abstract collage. Selwyn presents her choreography in an immediate, mature, and inclusive way that engages our audiences from start to finish and beckons a response of thought, feeling, and soul.

WE LIVE WITHIN AN UNSTABLE LANDSCAPE
This is a social networking website connecting people concerned about innovation and experimentation on art, dance, embodiment, cognition, science, networks, post-humanism, media and the unstable landscape of contemporary culture and life.
We are in a transitional phase and refocusing the network with a broader interdisciplinary framework. It will reflect a contemporary community interacting and embedded unstablelandscape.
This network is maintained and administrated by Marlon Barrios Solano as an independent art/curatorial/social innovation project.
