Forsythe Improvisation Workshop
with Tamas Geza Moricz
October 18- 23.d 2010
UFERHALLE STUDIOS
Uferstr. 8-11
13357 Berlin
This is a week long intensive workshop to explore essential techniques and principles of William Forsythe, The Ballett Frankfurt and The Forsythe Company.
It is an introduction into the use of Improvisational Modalities, such as Bridging, Folding, Point-Point-Line, Inclinations, Isometries, Matching, Cross-Hemispheric exercises, Reversals, Inversions, Transparencies etc...
These exercises increase awareness of your body in motion and where it's limitations and liberties are. They free you from habitual movement patterns and enable you to reach a creative flow while sustaining clear and graceful movement.
The workshop leads to an ability to use the body's workings and weight for your own benefit. You will better understand the use of velocity; how to utilize happenstance to go off and to recapture balance; how to reach greater speed and clarity while remaining generous and free in your dance.
One can move very fast in this state yet the resulting movement is devoid of violence, instead it becomes defined, articulate, pleasant to do as well as to observe. The awareness it creates will help you to understand your own abilities and how to master your ideas and creativity as put into dance.
After the workshop you will be able to use these techniques to approach movement from a different perspective and further your individual possibilities, developing yourself into a more free and dynamic performer.
You will gain practical knowledge that you can apply in your dancing or choreographic work for many years to come.

WE LIVE WITHIN AN UNSTABLE LANDSCAPE
This is a social networking website connecting people concerned about innovation and experimentation on art, dance, embodiment, cognition, science, networks, post-humanism, media and the unstable landscape of contemporary culture and life.
We are in a transitional phase and refocusing the network with a broader interdisciplinary framework. It will reflect a contemporary community interacting and embedded unstablelandscape.
This network is maintained and administrated by Marlon Barrios Solano as an independent art/curatorial/social innovation project.
