Part of the Modern Guest Artist Mini-Workshop Series
This workshop offers an in-depth study of dancing on and with the floor. Using the body’s weight and momentum, the floor will reveal itself to be the indispensable partner that it is. Dancers will be led through improvisational and set exercises to discover the body’s weight and center of gravity. Exploring the contact points between the body’s surface and the floor, the class progresses into set phrases designed to challenge the traditional notions of modern and post-modern floorwork. Keeping in mind that all bodies are different, dancers will be afford time to apply new concepts and physical challenges at the pace their body dictates. Each class will conclude with a sustained movement phrase in which dancers will have repeated opportunities to play with and explore.
Participants can pre-register for all 5 classes, or else register for each class individually the day of class. Attendance will be high, so pre-registration is recommended. Pre-registration for single classes is unavailable.
Workshop Fees:
Pre-registration fees:
Full Workshop for members: $70 (Save $10 off the regular class prices!)

WE LIVE WITHIN AN UNSTABLE LANDSCAPE
This is a social networking website connecting people concerned about innovation and experimentation on art, dance, embodiment, cognition, science, networks, post-humanism, media and the unstable landscape of contemporary culture and life.
We are in a transitional phase and refocusing the network with a broader interdisciplinary framework. It will reflect a contemporary community interacting and embedded unstablelandscape.
This network is maintained and administrated by Marlon Barrios Solano as an independent art/curatorial/social innovation project.
