Event Description

David Roussève
Saudade
October 22-25. 2009 • [Thu-Sun] • 8:00 PM
Admission: $22 ($15 for members)

"One day, some breakthrough string-theory of the heart is sure to explain why beauty and damnation can be perceived at the same moment. Until then, David Roussève's dance-theater work Saudade offers a succinct and lyrical look at how the highs and lows of life collide."
- The Washington Post

Mythical images of the deep southern bayou are juxtaposed with social realism in David Roussève/REALITY's Saudade. Roussève constructs a new physical language with seven performers combining postmodern movement and traditional world dances. The sound score for Saudade is traditional and contemporary recordings of fado music, also known as "Portuguese Blues," interspersed with spoken narratives and character monologues.

Joining Roussève in performance are Esther M. Baker-Tarpaga, Nehara Kalev, Marianne M. Kim, Taisha Paggett, Sri Susilowati, Olivier Tarpaga, and Anjali Tata.

Saudade includes a set by Peter Melville, lighting by David Ferri, and video by Ashley Hunt.

welcome to UNSTABLELANDSCAPE

WE LIVE WITHIN AN UNSTABLE LANDSCAPE

This is a social networking website connecting people concerned about innovation and experimentation on art, dance, embodiment, cognition, science, networks, post-humanism, media and the unstable landscape of contemporary culture and life.

We are in a transitional phase and refocusing the network with a broader interdisciplinary framework. It will reflect a contemporary  community interacting and embedded  unstablelandscape.

This network is maintained and administrated by Marlon Barrios Solano as an independent art/curatorial/social innovation project.
