HANG TANG YUEFU—The Feast of Han Xizai
A Video-Illustrated Talk
The ancient Chinese musical tradition of Nanguan (Southern Winds) and movements inspired by the ancient tradition of Liyuan Xi (musical theater of the Pear Orchard) from the 7th Century is brought to life by the Han Tang Yuefu Ensemble, which was founded in 1983. June Huang, cultural exchange producer and writer brings her knowledge of Taiwan art and culture to present a video and audio illustrated talk. The Han Tang Yuefu Music and Dance Ensemble is a special guest company of the China Festival at Carnegie Hall.
The company's Joyce debut (November 3–8) will feature the full-evening work The Feast of Han Xizai, which is based on the painting from the Tang Dynasty that currently hangs in the National Museum of Beijing. The ensemble strives to bring the classical traditions forward, and make them relevant to contemporary audiences. The performers move as calmly and serenely as water enhanced by sumptuous costumes and sets by Oscar winner Tim Yip (Best Art Direction for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon). Dancers and musicians enact this legendary story of the talented official and bon vivant Han Xizai with subtle drama and refined elegance. The company's appearance in the 2003 Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors was considered one of the 10 dance highlights of the year by The New York Times.

WE LIVE WITHIN AN UNSTABLE LANDSCAPE
This is a social networking website connecting people concerned about innovation and experimentation on art, dance, embodiment, cognition, science, networks, post-humanism, media and the unstable landscape of contemporary culture and life.
We are in a transitional phase and refocusing the network with a broader interdisciplinary framework. It will reflect a contemporary community interacting and embedded unstablelandscape.
This network is maintained and administrated by Marlon Barrios Solano as an independent art/curatorial/social innovation project.
