Is This Art? is a fascinating new 12 Volume DVD series featuring interviews with leading practitioners and conceptual artists from media, performance, visual art music and sound.
Each episode presents a series of interviews with contemporary artists intercut with images and recent footage of their work. The interviews provide insight to why, how and for whom these artists create their work, and where their passion and artistic inquiries originate from. Where are the boundaries between science, technology, politics, popular culture and art? Viewers are challenged with the question while witnessing the freeflow of imagination.

JULIEN MAIRE
Julien Maires unique, intricate and fragile hand-made projector performances.
Born in France, Julien Maire currently lives and works in Berlin. Maires work has been exhibited internationally in solo shows at galleries and group shows including Les Rencontres Internationales de la photographie, Arles, France; and Hull Time Based Art, Hull, UK. Maire has performed his live projection works at venues including Site Gallery, Sheffield, UK; ZKM, Karlsruhre, Germany, Transmediale 01 and 04, Berlin; and EMAF, 2004.
PHILIP NORTON
Philip Norton s Teach Yourself Atomic Physics.
Philip Norton is originally from Chicago and was runner-up in Mark Smiths first ever slam series final at the Green Mill in 1984. He then left for Japan where he lived for 6 years, performing at the Kyoto Connection and teaching Modern Poetry at the Kyoto University of Education. Now residing in Australia, Norton was profiled in the ABC television special Voices (Australias United States of Poetry) commemorating the inaugural National Poetry Day. He was the Text Program Coordinator for Next Wave Festival 2000 and as a free lance producer has produced programs for ABCs Poetica, Airplay and Radio Eye. He is currently the performance editor of Cordite Magazine and is the Creative Director and founder of the weekly multi-arts event Babble, Melbournes most successful spoken word night.
