About Me (human/individual)/interests, work..short bio/ THis is the most important. It is the only way to know that you are not a SPAMBOT!Be generous!
Am I a robot? I started filling in the blank with the standard bio and a little snippet of what my interests are. I don't like leaving blank spaces or even better am I allowed to leave blank spaces? The truth might be quiet obvious, a shared experience: I don't like writing bios, whenever there is a bio involved my interest drops. I'd love to know I am not the only one, well, I definitely know I am not the only one. So here's a little bit of me already...something I don't like. But rest assured there are plenty of things that I do like! First and foremost is Contact Improvisation, the art form that has hooked me into the world of arts, that has allowed me to embrace my creativity. Followed by an ever growing love for Improvisation.
Apart from being a dancer, like many many other artists I do have more than one trade. Over the years I have realised how communication is a very important aspect of my life and of my personality. I started my career path as a linguist, studying apart from my native language - Italian - English and Spanish at University. Eventually becoming a professional translator and interpreter in all the possible combinations of the three languages. Somehow life has led me into working in marketing and advertising which, besides potentially being a little controversial in terms of how much good they do to society, ultimately they are centred on communication. Through dance, and Contact Impro in particular, I believe I have further deepened this interest of mine, going beyond the verbal and delving right into exploring and investigating its physical component and potential. Ultimately I love people, dancing, interacting, relating and collaborating, particularly in the cross-disciplinary realm.
Technology has become the main medium for that to happen, especially considering my geographical location: Australia! Living in down under often makes me feel isolated from the buzz that I associate to Europe and besides maintaining a 10 year long standing relationship via skype with my family and friends, in the last couple of years it has also become a way to collaborate with amazing artists that I have met and keep meeting along the way. I believe I have fully embraced the potential of this collaborative medium last year by attending the GLobal Underscore in Chichester. The event has open my mind into the endless possibilities offered by this. I have attempted to curate a Buenos Aires - Sydney performance last year but the technology failed in this instance. I am very excited that i can learn and experiment through this Lab. It also is an amazing opportunity to make a project that till a couple of weeks appeared that needed to be canned to actually happen. This time I will embark in a four day creative process that will culminate in an improvised performance that links Australia to Israel. I am truly excited!!

I am an independent dancer and choreographer based in Sydney, Australia. My dance practice is grounded in Contact Improvisation and Improvisation, and most recently I have started experimenting with set choreography. Currently I am an artist in residence and together with dance partner we are creating a physical theatre show "Little By Little". I am part of the creative team that is producing "Platform Shorts", event part of the Sydney Fringe Festival and curating a satellite event for the same festival "Platform Shorts Extended". I also teach Contact Improvisation, produce workshops, facilitate the Underscore and the Sydney Sunday Jam. I am the co-founder of the dance collectives "Momentum In Sydney" and the co-founder of "Double Back Dance Productions".
I am particularly interested in cross-disciplinary collaborations, with a growing interest in the potential that technology offers in fostering online collaborations.

welcome to UNSTABLELANDSCAPE

WE LIVE WITHIN AN UNSTABLE LANDSCAPE

This is a social networking website connecting people concerned about innovation and experimentation on art, dance, embodiment, cognition, science, networks, post-humanism, media and the unstable landscape of contemporary culture and life.

We are in a transitional phase and refocusing the network with a broader interdisciplinary framework. It will reflect a contemporary  community interacting and embedded  unstablelandscape.

This network is maintained and administrated by Marlon Barrios Solano as an independent art/curatorial/social innovation project.
