Idan Cohen – born 06/06/1978

Idan Cohen was born and raised in Israel, kibbutz Mizra.
The kibbutz (a socialist community) life has had a wide effect on his artistic life and work.
He received a scholarship to study theater and fine arts at the "Art colony", in Israel 's Negev (desert) ,and was admitted to a video-dance project by Bat-Sheva dance company dancer Lara Bersak (France) before joined the world known K.C.D.C (founder Yehudit Arnon).

Since 2003 he is creating, performing and teaching successfully as an international award winning independent choreographer.

Creations & Awards

-January 2011: "Because" 30 min. 7 dancers for the Silesian Dance theater, Poland.

-August 2010: "Brazil", 30 min. 5 dancers in collaboration with Maria Kong Dancers Company, Israel.

-June 2009: "Swan Lake", 90 min. 3 dancers -supported by "Tanzplan Dresden", Germany.

-April 2009: "Three pieced Swan, op.1", 12 min. solo creation for ICOM- DNA (Dance New Amsterdam), New York.

- January 2008: "Joy Ride", 30 min. 4 dancers – Best young artist award- Israeli culture ministry.

-May 2007: "My sweet little fur"', 12 min. solo "Shades in Dance festival" Suzanne Dellal dance center, T.A. first Performing Prize at the" Solo Tanz Theater Festival", Stuttgart, Germany March 2008.
-"My sweet little fur" Video Dance by Ofek Wertman wins first prize in "KinoLewchyk" Experimental Video Festival, Kiev, Ukraine

-November 2007:"Half cup sesame seeds", 30 min. 6 dancers for "Arabesque" dance company-Bulgaria.
first price and the encouraging Award for original interpretation of musical composition in the Margarita Arnaudova international modern dance competition, Sofia , Bulgaria.

-August 2006: "A year in a fish life", 12 min. 3 dancers - second prize presenting at "No Ballet" competition, Ludwigshafen , Germany March 2007.
Since 2008 the work is also performed by "Donlon" dance company- Saarbrucken, Germany.


Idan has been touring with his work internationally to:

Idan is being invited as a Guest Artist and teacher at Kullberg
Ballet (Sweden), UCLA University- Los-Angeles, D.N.A & CPR theater- New York, AU- Washington DC, ACDFA Boston, Amherst College MA, University of Massachusetts Dance Department, Smith College Dance Department, Mount-Holyoke college (USA), The Scottish dance theater (Dundee, Scotland),Belgium (Impactt- Wilrijk), Bulgaria ( "Arabesque" dance company- Sofia), Poland (Bytom annual festival and dance conference), The Jerusalem academy and Suzanne dellal dance center Tel-Aviv (Israel).
